Whip out those handkerchiefs, loves, because we’re about to lose yet another character on our beloved supernatural series. According to heartbreaking images from The Originals Season 1 Episode 20: “A Closer Walk with Thee,” a funeral service will soon be underway in New Orleans. The bad news? We have a sinking feeling that Father Kieran’s witch hex got the best of him. This is purely speculation, of course, but he hasn’t found a cure for his magically-induced illness yet so our money’s on the poor priest.
The good news? Alas there are not one but two silver linings, sweethearts: a festive parade to honor the deceased and plenty of sexy vamps in suits! All our leads — including Elijah (Daniel Gillies), Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), and Cami (Leah Pipes) look incredible in their fancy black attire as they drop by the services to pay their respects to an important member of the community. Unfortunately, just like every other momentous occasion on the show, danger plays a major theme. Specifically? Hayley will come face-to-face with shocking nemesis as she and her unborn baby fall into peril during the celebratory wake to honor a fallen member of the community.
Oh, and in a surprising turn, Mikael (Sebastian Roche) returns to wreak havoc on his terrified sons. Don’t worry though: he’s but a figment of the nightmarish landscape known as Niklaus’s dreams. The power-hungry hybrid is forced to examine his troubled relationship with own adoptive son, Marcel, and what better way to do so than by having Papa Psycho make a harrowing cameo? While Klaus ponders his frayed familial bonds, Genevieve (Elyse Levesque) struggles to maintain control over Davina (Danielle Campbell) and the Harvest witches, and Cami (Leah Pipes) informs Marcel that Francesca ( Peta Sargent) is determined to find a mysterious key that may unlock a family secret.
